Introduction: Fouriesburg is a small farming community, founded in 1892 and named after one Christoffel Fourie. The town and surrounds offers a wide range of activities and is the quieter alternative to Clarens, just 30 kms away.

The town is situated in the beautiful Eastern Free State Highlands of South Africa, and surrounded by magnificent views of mountains and colourful sandstone cliffs.

Fouriesburg is an ideal gateway to explore the Kingdom of Lesotho.

Must See: Battle sites, Dutch Reformed Church, Fouriesburg Country Inn, Meiringskloof Nature Reserve, President Steyn House, ' Queen Victoria': a unique sandstone formation, Salpeterkrans, Sandstone Museum, Surrender Hill.

Must Do: 4 x 4 safaris, hike and cycle the incredible Golden Gate Mountain Park trough to Bokpoort, horse riding.

Visit the sandstone church, the blockhouse (only 2 of it's type in the country) & museum, where former commandos camped Pres Steyn House -the lowly dwelling of the former Free State President.

The Caledonspoort border post to Lesotho is 12km away for easy access to the Afriski ski resort.
